The Seals “Sneak” Skirt is not for the hardcore-barrel-rolling paddler. It’s for the recreational, class I & II paddler. It’s not Neoprene (it’s nylon), nor is it the tightest fitting, waterproof skirt but it’s very functional.
What We Like:
This skirt offers three great things. First, access to the cockpit. Great for pulling out snacks, your camera, etc., on a leisure paddle. It even has mesh pockets on the outside for convenient access to other water safe items like sunglasses, etc.
Second, if it’s really hot out, opening the zipper allows for a quick way to cool down.
Lastly, it’s a very nice skirt with quality nylon and shock cord at a very affordable price.
Full Disclosure:
I recently purchased a second skirt from REI for our Necky Manitou. They changed the handle a bit. It’s not the large plastic handle, rather a loop of nylon with a piece of plastic tubing over it. I suppose it makes it lighter and shouldn’t be anymore difficult to pull if you roll over. However, if you roll, you’re going to fall right out with the skirt anyway.
The Final Word:
Seals makes quality skirts. If you want a recreational and breathable skirt, this might be for you. You won’t be rolling in it but you won’t be sweating either.
